Lacy Alfrey is an entrepreneur, business owner, and community leader with a passion for helping families create beautiful homes affordably through the power of consignment. As the owner of This N That Consignments, with locations in Mason and Centerville, Ohio, Lacy has built a thriving business centered around sustainability, smart shopping, and creating opportunities for both consignors and customers.
Known for her energetic personality, authentic leadership style, and strong social media presence, Lacy has grown her business by connecting directly with her community and turning everyday shopping into an experience. Her entrepreneurial journey has also inspired the next generation — her 18-year-old daughter, Olivia, recently opened This N That Consignment Boutique, following in her mother’s footsteps as a young entrepreneur and business owner. Together, they represent the power of family-driven entrepreneurship, mentorship, and women supporting women in business.
Lacy is passionate about empowering women to take risks, trust their vision, and build businesses that align with their goals and lifestyles. Through years of hands-on experience, she has learned the importance of resilience, adaptability, and showing up consistently — even during challenging seasons. At the Women’s Speaker Series, she shares real-life insights on entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing, social media growth, and building a business with authenticity and heart, inspiring other women to pursue their ideas with confidence.

Kathleen "Mimi" Borne

Kathleen “Mimi” Borne is the founder and owner of Mimi’s Macros, a rapidly growing healthy meal prep company serving the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky communities. What began as a personal passion for nutrition and helping others quickly evolved into a thriving business built on heart, resilience, and a deep commitment to caring for people through food.
Known for her authentic leadership style and powerful storytelling, Kathleen has built Mimi’s Macros from the ground up through hard work, community connection, and an unwavering belief that healthy food can change lives. Under her leadership, the company has expanded from a small side venture into a large-scale operation producing thousands of fresh meals each week while creating jobs and serving families, professionals, athletes, and individuals across the region.
Kathleen is passionate about entrepreneurship, personal growth, and empowering women to pursue ambitious goals without waiting for perfect timing or perfect circumstances. Through both her business and public speaking, she openly shares the realities of building a company, balancing leadership and family life, overcoming setbacks, and learning to lead with both strength and vulnerability.
Her mission remains simple: help people take care of themselves so they can fully show up for the people and lives they love.

Barb Smith
Journey Steel, Inc.
Barb Smith is the President and Majority Owner of Journey Steel, Inc. founded in 2009. She is a native of Cincinnati,
Ohio and the youngest of eight children. She was educated in the Cincinnati Public Schools system before attending and receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology with a Construction Specialty from Eastern Michigan University.
Ms. Smith is the mother of two young men and the grandmother of one awesome grandson.
She gained 6 years of construction experience right out of college working with Barton-Malow Construction, Wm Cargile Contractors, and D.A.G. Construction as a Project Manager and Estimator. Barb added 18 years of architectural and engineering experience working with Jacobs Engineering and Hixson Architects & Engineers as a Senior Estimator, before starting Journey Steel, Inc. in 2009.
She has graduated from the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati (ULGC) African American Business Development Program (AABDP Class 10 – Kaufman Track), Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program at Babson College, the SBA Emerging Leaders Class (Interise Track), the Gilbane Rising Stars Program, and the Shell Business & Industry Leadership Academy.
Ms. Smith currently sits on the advisory boards of the Reds Community Fund, IKRON, Square1, Journeys Soaring Impact and the Cincinnati Regional Chamber of Commerce. She also co-founded Journeys Soaring Impact, a non-profit geared towards providing inner- city high-school seniors year-round paid, hands-on training in the field of ironworking.
Ms. Smith is the recipient of the 2016 Journey Award for Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship. She is in the 2017 Class of Women Who Mean Business. She was inducted into the African American Chamber Black Business Hall of Fame in 2021 and in the 2022 Class of We are Making Black History by the Cincinnati Regional Chamber. She was a 2024 WBE Star, in the 2025 Class of 100 Women to Know and a 2026 Enterprising Women of the year. Her company has received numerous awards for community impact including being named three years as one of the top 100 fastest growing inner-city businesses by ICIC listed in Fortune Magazine. Barb was invited to the White House in 2019 and participated in a Roundtable discussion with the President, Vice-President, and members of the President’s Cabinet to discuss regulations and their effect on small, minority and women-owned businesses.
Ms. Smith is active in her local church serving as head usher and a member of the church leadership team. Barb is also an enthusiastic and die-hard Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan.
